Last year in Australia, over 1,000 women endured a three month long trial in the Victorian Supreme Court against Bayer and Conceptus, the manufacturers of this device.
There was much media interest in Australia, and some of the women’s stories were told across many media outlets. It was barely covered in New Zealand, likewise, when 60 Minutes ran a story about Essure on their show, but the following week in New Zealand, the Sunday program chose not to air it, but chose to run the stories that appeared either side of this segment.
